Users can generate complete songs, including vocals, lyrics, and instrumentation, by simply speaking creative prompts to Alexa. The feature enables personalized music creation for special occasions like birthdays or custom raps featuring favorite characters.

Suno, a leading AI music model provider, faces ongoing legal challenges from major music industry players. The RIAA, Sony Music, Universal Music, and Warner Music have filed lawsuits against Suno for alleged copyright infringement in training their AI models. German collection society GEMA has also pursued legal action against the company.

Despite legal controversies, Suno has garnered support from industry figures, including Timbaland and EDM artist 3LAU, who joined as strategic advisors. However, the Amazon partnership announcement comes shortly after Universal Music's expanded relationship with Amazon Music, which included commitments to address unauthorized AI-generated content.

The Alexa+ update introduces additional features beyond music generation:

  • Image generation capabilities
  • New voice filters
  • Enhanced smart home controls
  • Uber booking integration
  • Ticketmaster integration for finding event tickets

Industry insiders note that Amazon did not inform its music partners about the Suno partnership beforehand. The impact of ongoing litigation on Alexa+'s AI music features remains uncertain.
