AP Apologizes After Abruptly Cutting Off Babyface During Grammy Interview
The Associated Press (AP) faced criticism after abruptly ending an interview with legendary producer Babyface during the Grammy Awards red carpet to chase another artist, Chappell Roan.
During AP's live coverage, reporters Leslie Ambriz and Fauria were mid-conversation with Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds about genre-bending in music when Fauria began calling out to Chappell Roan. Babyface gracefully handed back the microphone, despite the interruption.

The incident sparked immediate backlash on social media, with notable figures including Dionne Warwick and Khloé Kardashian condemning the disrespectful treatment. Warwick shared the definition of "decorum" while tagging AP, while Kardashian emphasized Babyface's significant impact on the music industry.
Babyface's representative, Ernest Dukes, released a gracious statement focusing on the positive aspects of the evening: "The best part of the night was reconnecting with old friends, meeting new artists, and feeling all the love in the room. That's what I'll remember."
AP issued an official apology on X/Twitter, stating they were "deeply sorry" for cutting the interview short and had apologized to Babyface through his representative. Reporter Fauria also personally apologized, citing the red carpet's hectic environment while expressing her admiration for Babyface.
