Contemporary Christian radio station WFSH-FM "The Fish" in Atlanta will cease operations at the end of January 2024, following its sale by Salem Media Group to Educational Media Foundation (EMF) for $80 million.

The sale is part of Salem Media Group's larger $160 million debt reduction strategy, which includes selling seven Christian music stations to EMF. This marks Salem's strategic exit from the contemporary Christian music format.

Long-time hosts Kevin Avery and Taylor Scott announced their departure after 24 years of providing "Good, Clean, Fun" to Atlanta listeners. The station will officially close on January 31.

Salem CEO David Santrella confirmed that following these transactions, the company will have no outstanding debt except for its revolving line of credit. The deal also brings new strategic opportunities, particularly in digital media.

EMF, which owns K-LOVE and Air1 networks and operates over 1,000 signals nationwide, was praised by Salem co-founder Edward G. Atsinger for their dedication to delivering quality Christian music content. This acquisition further strengthens EMF's position as one of the largest Christian music broadcasters in the United States.
