
Boomplay Partners with MTN Ghana to Bundle Premium Music Streaming with Data Plans
African streaming platform Boomplay has partnered with MTN Ghana to integrate premium streaming services with telecom data plans, marking a significant development in Africa's digital music landscape.
Boomplay, which boasts 70 million monthly active users and a library of 90 million tracks, will now be accessible to MTN Ghana's 22 million customers through various subscription packages. The partnership offers monthly, weekly, and daily service options, featuring unlimited offline playback of downloaded songs at reduced data costs.
Elizabeth Ntiamoah-Quarshie, Boomplay Ghana GM, emphasized the partnership's importance: "Having MTN as a key partner in our strides to make music streaming and download more affordable offers an exciting prospect for the future of our music industry and streaming culture."

- Opening an office in Ivory Coast
- Partnering with France's Generations Radio for a weekly "Top Africa Charts" program
- Offering both French live broadcasts and English podcast versions
The African music market continues to grow significantly, with key developments including:
- Warner Music's acquisition of Africori
- Universal Music's launch of Virgin Music Label & Artist Services in Africa
- Competition from platforms like Mdundo, which has 21.5 million monthly active users
This partnership represents a strategic move to expand digital music access across Africa, home to over 1.2 billion people, and strengthen Boomplay's position as a leading music streaming platform in the region.
