Deezer reports approximately 10,000 AI-generated tracks are being uploaded to their platform daily, accounting for roughly 10% of their total daily content delivery. The streaming service has responded by developing and implementing an AI music detector to identify these machine-made compositions.

The AI detector currently focuses on identifying tracks created through popular AI music generators like Suno and Udio. Deezer is working to expand the system's capabilities to detect AI-generated content without requiring specific training datasets, preparing for the inevitable emergence of new AI music generation tools.

Key findings about AI music on Deezer:

  • Most AI-generated tracks uploaded never receive any streams
  • The influx of AI content risks diluting the music catalog
  • There are concerns about potential fraudulent activity
  • AI uploads represent about 10,000 of the 100,000 daily track uploads

In response to these challenges, Deezer's head Alexis Lanternier announced plans to:

  • Develop a comprehensive tagging system for AI-generated content
  • Exclude AI-created tracks from algorithmic recommendations
  • Remove AI content from editorial recommendations
  • Protect artists' and songwriters' rights and revenues

For context, Deezer currently offers access to over 120 million tracks, compared to Spotify's 100 million. While AI technology shows promise for music creation and consumption, Deezer emphasizes the importance of responsible implementation to maintain the integrity of human artistry and fair compensation for creators.
