DOJ Intensifies Live Nation Investigation with Fresh Round of Information Demands
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued new information requests in its ongoing investigation of Live Nation and Ticketmaster's potential anti-competitive practices, according to Bloomberg reports.

The DOJ's Antitrust Division has expressed frustration with Ticketmaster executives' slow response to previous information requests. This investigation could potentially lead to legal action against the ticketing giant.
Key points of the investigation:
- Focuses on compliance with the 2010 merger consent decree
- Examines relationships between tour promotion and venue businesses
- Originally set for 10 years, extended by 5 years in 2019 due to alleged violations
- Live Nation consistently denies all anti-competitive conduct allegations
While public attention peaked during the 2022 Taylor Swift Eras Tour ticketing debacle, the investigation predates this incident. Senators have accused Live Nation of "egregiously stonewalling" the investigation into consumer practices, though the company maintains it seeks confidentiality assurances for sensitive information.
Although initial reports suggested the DOJ might file a lawsuit by the end of 2023, the extended investigation could see legal action by the end of 2024.
