Maddux led CD Baby for over a decade before joining Downtown as CCO in October 2020, following Downtown's acquisition of the indie distributor in 2019. The reasons for his departure remain undisclosed.
In his departure statement, Maddux highlighted achievements including the strategic sale of CD Baby, AdRev, and DashGo, along with leading M&A practices and working on the integration of FUGA and Curve. He expressed gratitude to CEO Andrew Bergman and executive chairman Justin Kalifowitz for their support during his 13-year association with the companies.
Downtown CEO Andrew Bergman acknowledged Maddux's contributions to the company's culture and growth, noting his continued involvement as an advisor through 2024.
This departure follows several other executive changes at Downtown Music Holdings in 2023:
- Dorothee Imhoff became CCO of FUGA (a Downtown subsidiary) in early 2023
- Former FUGA CCO David Driessen transitioned to chief business officer of Downtown Music in March
- Jedd Katrancha moved from CCO of Downtown Music Services to CCO of Downtown Music Publishing in July
