Tips Music, a division of Tips Industries based in Mumbai, has a substantial digital presence with nearly 36 million YouTube subscribers and 17 billion views. The 45-year-old company's stock value has seen remarkable growth, increasing from ₹91.60 to ₹325.25 per share since 2020.

Facebook India Director Manish Chopra emphasized the company's commitment to enhancing music-based experiences on their platforms, particularly focusing on 90s content from Tips Music's library.

This agreement is part of Facebook's broader strategy to expand its music offerings in India, following several key developments:

  • Launch of licensed music videos in July
  • Securing major label licenses for Facebook Gaming
  • $5.7 billion investment in Reliance Jio (9.99% stake)
  • Introduction of "Reels" on Instagram

The deal comes at a strategic time, as India's digital music landscape continues to evolve. With TikTok's ban in India (previously 200 million monthly active users), Facebook and Instagram are positioned to capture a larger share of the market.

The Indian music market has seen increased activity from global players, with Spotify partnering with Saregama for 100,000 tracks and Warner Music Group establishing its Mumbai headquarters under Jay Mehta's leadership.
