Judge Arun Subramanian rejected the motion, which would have restricted public statements from victims and their attorneys. The judge emphasized that a gag order would be an "extreme remedy" that could infringe on First Amendment rights while attempting to protect the defendant's right to a fair trial.

Combs' legal team, led by attorney Marc Agnifilo, had argued that media coverage and statements by accusers' attorneys were prejudicing public perception. However, Judge Subramanian noted that such broad restrictions would unfairly limit speech from individuals who may not even testify in the trial.

The music mogul faces serious charges related to allegedly operating a sex trafficking network. While awaiting trial, scheduled for May 2025, Combs' team has also renewed their request for release on a $50 million bail bond, citing similar cases where defendants were granted release.

Combs maintains his innocence against all allegations. The judge's ruling reinforces the delicate balance between protecting trial integrity and preserving constitutional rights to free speech.
