
Harbourview Acquires Jazz Legend George Benson's Master Royalties in Major Deal

Harbourview Equity Partners has acquired the master royalty income of jazz legend George Benson, adding another significant music IP asset to their portfolio. The financial terms remain undisclosed.
George Benson's illustrious career spans over five decades, highlighted by:
- 36 studio albums and 8 live albums
- Triple platinum album "Breezin'" (1976), winning three Grammy awards
- Hit single "Give Me the Night" (1980), produced by Quincy Jones
- Recent Steve Aoki remix (2021) introducing his music to new audiences
- Collaboration with Gorillaz on "Humility" (100+ million YouTube views)
Notable accolades include:
- NEA Jazz Masters Fellowship (2009)
- Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
- Honorary doctorates from Morris Brown College, Berklee School of Music, and Duquesne University
- DownBeat Magazine Hall of Fame induction (2020)

In 2024, Benson returned to Warner Music Group, releasing "Dreams Do Come True: When George Benson Meets Robert Farnon," an orchestral project recorded 35 years ago featuring American standards and pop classics.
