Liam Payne's Fatal Hotel Fall in Argentina Points to Suicide, Police Say
On Wednesday afternoon, former One Direction member Liam Payne died after falling from a third-floor balcony at the Casa Sur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. According to the Argentinian prosecutor's office, Payne suffered fatal internal and external bleeding along with multiple traumas.

Initial police investigation suggests possible suicide, based on interviews with five witnesses who confirmed Payne was alone during the incident. Evidence of alcohol and drug consumption was found in his hotel room.
Hotel staff reported concerning behavior hours before the incident. A receptionist contacted emergency services about an "aggressive man" possibly under the influence, while guests reported hearing persistent banging and shouting throughout the day. The hotel manager discovered the incident after hearing "a loud noise" at the building's rear.
Payne, who rose to fame on "The X Factor" in 2010 at age 16, was in Buenos Aires to attend fellow One Direction member Niall Horan's concert. His former bandmates Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Cheryl Tweedy, mother of his child, have not yet commented on his passing.
An official autopsy report is pending.
