Live Music Society Awards Record $1 Million in 2024 Venue Support Grants

Live Music Society has awarded over $290,000 to 34 small music venues across the United States in their largest-ever Toolbox grant round, pushing their 2024 funding total past $1 million. This milestone represents the organization's growing impact since its 2020 founding by Pete Muller.

The grants support practical improvements including:

  • Sound and lighting upgrades
  • Accessibility improvements
  • Production training equipment
  • Stage lighting systems

Notable 2024 grant recipients include:

  • Make.Shift Arts Space (Bellingham, WA) - Audio system and LED lighting upgrades
  • The Holland Project (Reno, NV) - Production equipment for training programs
  • Groundworks (Tucson, AZ) - Equipment for volunteer crew training

"These grants ensure that small venues remain vital spaces for creativity, learning, and connection," says Live Music Society board president Gavin Berger. Since 2020, the organization has provided $4.1 million in total funding to small venues nationwide.

The complete list of 2024 grantees includes 34 venues across multiple states, including first-time recipient states Nevada, Kansas, and Georgia. This expansion demonstrates the organization's growing nationwide impact in supporting grassroots music venues.
