Renowned producer Madlib has filed a lawsuit against his longtime manager Eothen Alapatt (known professionally as Egon) for alleged mismanagement and financial misconduct. The lawsuit centers around two companies: Madicine Show and Rapp Cats.

Key allegations in the lawsuit:

  • Egon maintained exclusive control over company bank accounts and financial decisions
  • Used Now-Again Records as an unauthorized middleman with distributor Ingrooves
  • Took unauthorized fees from Madlib's project revenues
  • Failed to provide proper documentation for hundreds of thousands in consulting payments
  • Refused to share complete financial records
  • Blocked Madlib's access to social media accounts
  • Appointed shared legal representation without consultation

A forensic accounting review (2018-2022) revealed multiple accounting irregularities and missing documentation for millions in deposits.

Madlib seeks:

  • Dissolution of both Madicine Show and Rapp Cats
  • Declaration terminating rights granted to both companies
  • Claims breach of fiduciary duty against Egon and Now-Again Records

The lawsuit comes approximately 14 years after Madlib left Stones Throw Records to gain more control over his music career. The case is ongoing, with Egon yet to respond to requests for comment.
