Megadeth has officially ended their partnership with Universal Music Group (UMG) and will release their upcoming 17th studio album through Frontiers Label Group's new imprint, BLKIIBLK Records.

The thrash metal pioneers completed three albums with UMG and Mustaine's Tradecraft between 2013 and 2022. Their new album, currently untitled, is scheduled for release in fall or winter 2025. The band is approximately 90 days into the recording process, according to Dave Mustaine's recent fan newsletter.

The move reunites Megadeth with industry veteran Tom Lipsky, who previously worked with the band at Sanctuary Records during the releases of "The World Needs a Hero" (2001) and "The System Has Failed" (2004). Lipsky now serves as A&R head for North America at Frontiers.

Dave Mustaine commented: "When I first met Tom Lipsky and Bob Chiappardi back in the day I had no idea we would be working together again so many years in the future. I look forward to working with Serafino and the team in Italy and I can't wait for the fans to hear the songs from our new record."

BLKIIBLK Records, dedicated to advancing heavy music, also represents acts like Sick N' Beautiful and Biohazard. The label aims to showcase pioneering and influential talent within the genre.

Megadeth's upcoming tour schedule includes appearances at:

• Bonnaroo (June 2025)
• Norway's Tons of Rock (June 2025)
• Various European performances (October 2025)

The band's partnership with BLKIIBLK Records marks a new chapter in their 42-year career, with Lipsky noting that Megadeth was the ideal artist to define the creative mission of the new label.
