The highly anticipated film stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael's nephew, in the lead role, alongside Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo. Antoine Fuqua directs from a script by John Logan, with Graham King, John Branca, and John McClain producing.

The biopic will feature 30 songs and promises an extensive runtime to properly tell Jackson's story. First footage was unveiled at CinemaCon in April, generating significant buzz.

The October release positioning strategically aligns with awards season, following the success model of Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, which was also produced by Graham King and earned four Oscars while grossing $903.6 million worldwide.

Director Fuqua shared his personal connection to the project: "Michael was a big part of my life growing up, big influence on my career, and incredible artist — but he was a human being, and we're exploring that."
