The deal includes works from prominent electronic artists such as:
- Paul Oakenfold
- Zero 7
- The Beloved
- Dirty Vegas
New State's legacy artists will now be marketed and promoted by Reservoir's Chrysalis division, while the label will continue operating independently to sign and release new electronic and dance music. Tom Parkinson will remain as New State's head, maintaining continuity in leadership.
The acquisition aligns with Reservoir's growth strategy, as evidenced by their recent financial performance:
- Q4 2024 recorded revenue: $11.96 million (19.65% YoY increase)
- Digital recorded revenue: $8.14 million (24% YoY growth)
- Publishing revenue: $26.89 million (16.2% YoY increase)
This purchase reflects a broader industry trend of investing in electronic and dance music catalogs, following similar moves by Create Music Group (Enhanced Music), Believe (Global Records), and Warner Music (Cloud 9).
Reservoir continues to expand its music rights portfolio, which now includes:
- 49,000+ recordings
- 150,000+ compositions
- $70.2 million spent on catalogs (April-December 2024)
