Snoop Dogg has announced his departure from Spotify in favor of blockchain-powered streaming platform Tune.fm, where he's exclusively released his new single "Spaceship Party."

The rapper cites disappointingly low royalty payments as his primary reason for the switch, claiming he received only $45,000 from one billion Spotify streams. Spotify disputed this figure, stating that "a billion streams generates millions of dollars to rights holders" and suggesting the funds may have been intercepted by intermediaries.

Key Features of Tune.fm:

  • Payments up to 100x higher than traditional streaming services
  • Instant per-second royalty payments using JAM cryptocurrency
  • Built-in crypto wallet for each user account
  • NFT, merchandise, and concert ticket sales capabilities
  • Exclusive content and VIP fan experiences

Tune.fm CEO Andrew Antar, who contributed violin parts to "Spaceship Party," welcomed Snoop Dogg as the platform's new face. The company recently secured $50 million in funding and is actively pursuing partnerships with major labels, distributors, and artists.

While Snoop's catalog (with nearly 30 million monthly listeners) remains on Spotify, he's planning additional Tune.fm initiatives, including private events and exclusive merchandise drops.

The move highlights growing interest in alternative streaming platforms that offer better compensation and more direct artist-fan engagement opportunities, particularly as traditional services become increasingly crowded with non-music content.
