Addressing the backlash on Instagram Live, Snoop maintained his stance, stating, "Y'all can't hate enough on me. I love too much… Still a black man, still 100 percent black."

The rapper's apparent shift in attitude toward Trump may be attributed to the former president's pardon of Death Row Records co-founder Michael "Harry O" Harris, whom Snoop actively advocated for. Harris had been serving a 25-year-to-life sentence for drug trafficking and attempted murder.

Other celebrities facing similar backlash include:

  • Kim Kardashian: Lost nearly 150,000 followers after sharing Melania Trump's inauguration outfit
  • DJ 3LAU: Defended playing at Trump's Starlight Ball, stating it was "an honor"
  • Jewel: Apologized to fans and the LGBTQ+ community after performing at Robert F. Kennedy's event

Snoop's relationship with Trump notably shifted in recent times, with the rapper telling the Sunday Times, "Donald Trump? He ain't done nothing wrong to me. [...] He has done only great things for me. He pardoned Michael Harris."

Fans expressed their disappointment across social media platforms, with many announcing their decision to unfollow the artist due to his perceived support of the Trump administration. While financial incentives may have played a role in these celebrity appearances, some, like Jewel, defended their decisions as necessary steps for advancing their advocacy work.
