Following a judge-ordered preliminary injunction against the Trump campaign's use of Isaac Hayes' music, the campaign has filed an emergency motion to postpone the scheduled deposition.

The dispute centers around the Trump campaign's repeated use of "Hold On, I'm Coming" at various events, including the Republican National Convention in July. Isaac Hayes III, representing Isaac Hayes Enterprises, initiated legal action after the campaign continued playing the song despite cease-and-desist requests.

Federal Judge Thomas Thrash has granted a temporary injunction, prohibiting the song's use until the case resolution. Trump's legal team, led by attorney Ronald Coleman, is now seeking to delay the deposition citing several reasons:

  • The deposition timing is premature following the preliminary injunction
  • Inadequate preparation time for defendants
  • Plaintiffs haven't specified examination matters or provided required BMI documents
  • Concerns over proper party representation regarding Turning Point USA, Inc.

Concurrent to this case, Trump faces another music-related lawsuit from Eddy Grant over the unauthorized use of "Electric Avenue" in a Biden-targeted campaign video. Grant seeks $300,000 in damages for the video, which garnered 13.7 million views before Twitter removed it.

The campaign's legal team has requested an immediate court decision on the motion, citing yesterday's preliminary injunction ruling as eliminating any urgency for expedited BMI deposition.
