IndieKnow, founded in 2021 by Andy Haggerstone, provides musicians with essential tools for music releases, including:
- A comprehensive release planner with checklists
- Press release writing assistance
- Database of over 1,000 PR & radio contacts
- Marketing and promotional resources
The acquisition will integrate IndieKnow's educational resources and step-by-step learning guides into Unhurd's platform. While financial terms weren't disclosed, the deal includes IndieKnow's assets but not its personnel. Current IndieKnow subscribers will transition to Unhurd's platform.
Alex Brees, Unhurd's founder and CEO, describes the acquisition as "a natural alignment" that enhances value for subscribers. "IndieKnow is a cornerstone of knowledge and empowerment for artists," says Brees, noting how the solution will integrate with Unhurd's new workflows launching in early 2025.
This expansion follows Unhurd's seven-figure seed round in Q1 2023, joining other recent music promotion startup funding successes:
- SongTools: $3 million funding (February 2024)
- Groover: $8 million Series A (February 2024)
The acquisition strengthens Unhurd's position in helping independent artists navigate music releases while bridging the knowledge gap in music promotion and marketing.
