The US government has formally responded to Sean "Diddy" Combs' accusations of racism in his ongoing legal battle, calling the claims "outrageous and illogical."

In documents filed on March 4, federal officials strongly assert that race played no role in the charges against Combs, which stem from "decades of criminal conduct."

Combs' legal team filed a motion last month focusing on the Mann Act charge of transportation to engage in prostitution. They argue that no white person has ever been targeted with this law, which prohibits transporting women for sex. The defense claims Combs "has been singled out because he is a powerful Black man" and is being prosecuted for conduct that typically goes unpunished.

The defense filing also alleges that federal prosecutors have been leaking damaging information to the media, claiming this demonstrates bias and "plays on racist tropes." They maintain that all sexual activity between Combs and others was consensual.

Government prosecutors previously dismissed similar accusations during an October pre-trial hearing as "baseless," warning that such claims posed a "serious risk" to conducting a fair trial. The trial is scheduled to begin on May 5.
