Warner Music India Invests in SkillBox to Boost Live Entertainment Growth in Emerging Markets
Warner Music India has acquired a minority stake in SkillBox, a ticketing and live events platform, as part of Warner Music Group's strategic expansion into emerging markets.
Founded in 2020, Warner Music India aims to become a dominant player in the region through a three-pronged approach:
- Bringing Indian music to global audiences
- Establishing itself as a major cultural force in India
- Securing a top-three market position in revenue and market share

Men standing against brick wall
SkillBox, co-founded by Amnol Kukreja and Sandip Ranjhan, has evolved from a simple ticketing platform into a comprehensive live entertainment company offering:
- Artist tours
- Ticketing solutions
- Branded event experiences
- Community-driven events
- Artist management
- Live technology solutions
The platform currently serves over 1.5 million users and will help WMI reach more fans while providing artists with streamlined live performance opportunities.
This investment aligns with Warner Music Group CEO Robert Kyncl's focus on emerging markets, particularly India and China. The partnership aims to capitalize on India's growing live entertainment sector while diversifying revenue streams beyond traditional music sales.
Jay Mehta, Managing Director of WMI, emphasizes that this collaboration will create new opportunities in India's rapidly expanding entertainment market, particularly in live events, merchandise, and brand partnerships.
