Young Thug's father, Jeffrey Williams Sr., expressed mixed feelings about his son's plea deal and subsequent release from jail. While grateful for his son's freedom, he was disappointed with the decision to enter a non-negotiated guilty plea.

Speaking to 11Alive outside the courthouse, Williams Sr. stated, "I wanted him to keep fighting. Let's make them continue to embarrass themselves." However, he maintains his support for his son's decisions, having been present throughout Young Thug's life "from a pup to now."

A major point of contention is the 10-year ban preventing Young Thug from returning to Metro Atlanta. Williams Sr. strongly opposes this restriction, viewing it as an unfair punishment that separates his son from his hometown.

Throughout the legal proceedings, Williams Sr. has also defended other YSL members, including Gunna, who faced criticism after taking an Alford plea. He emphasizes the immense pressure the legal system placed on the entire YSL family.

Despite his reservations about the plea deal, Williams Sr. remains optimistic about his son's future. "I feel great that he's going home," he said, acknowledging that while he wished for a different outcome, he respects his son's right to make his own decisions as an adult.
