Apple HomePod with 7-inch Display and AI Support Coming in 2025
Apple is developing a sophisticated HomePod with a 7-inch LCD display, scheduled for release in 2025. The device will feature an A18 chip and advanced AI capabilities, positioning it as a direct competitor to Google's Nest Hub and Amazon's Echo Show.

Key features of the new HomePod include:
- 7-inch LCD display from Tianma
- A18 chip processing
- Apple Intelligence support
- Customizable widget-oriented home screen
- Built-in camera for FaceTime calls
- HomeKit integration
- Home security system capabilities
- Wall-mounting option or tabletop base with speaker
- New "homeOS" operating system
The device will function as a smart home hub with Siri integration and comprehensive HomeKit controls. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman describes its appearance as resembling a "square iPad" that can be either wall-mounted or placed on a tabletop base with integrated speakers.
Apple aims to price the device competitively, having selected China-based manufacturer Tianma to supply cost-effective LCD panels. This release aligns with Apple's broader 2025 product strategy, which includes new iPhones, AirPods, M4 Macs, and an expanded smart home ecosystem.
The company is also expected to release a new HomePod mini in 2025, though plans for updating the current HomePod model remain uncertain.
