The achievement comes amid a significant copyright infringement lawsuit, where artists Tykeiya Dore and Marc Stephens are seeking $5 million in damages. They claim "No Guidance" copied their 2016 song "I Got It," citing identical musical elements including chord progressions, tempo, melody, and similar lyrics.

The lawsuit names multiple defendants including:

  • Chris Brown and Drake
  • Co-writers: Velous, Nija Charles, and Michee Lebrun
  • Producers: Noah "40" Shebib, Vinylz, J-Louis, and Teddy Walton
  • RCA Records and other music publishers

Additionally, the lawsuit targets YouTube, Google, and Alphabet for alleged defamation after YouTube removed Stephens' channel following a takedown request dispute over "No Guidance."

This marks the second copyright challenge for the song, following a previous lawsuit in 2021 that was ultimately dismissed.
