Originally from Derry, Northern Ireland, McDaid began his musical journey busking in London, where he honed his songwriting skills through direct audience feedback. After leading the band Vega4 for a decade, he was signed to Snow Patrol's Polar Patrol Publishing before officially joining the band in 2011.

Throughout his career, McDaid has demonstrated versatility by collaborating with diverse artists across genres, from pop stars like Robbie Williams and BTS to rock bands like Thirty Seconds to Mars and Biffy Clyro.

Jim Selby, Chief Publishing Officer at Concord, praised McDaid's artistry: "Johnny is a true artist. His songwriting, whether with his band or for other artists, is both personal and universal. His catalog has reached incredible heights, culturally resonating around the world."

The acquisition was negotiated by Reed Smith, LLP for Concord, while McDaid was represented by Michael Poster and Claire Hoffman of Michelman & Robinson, LLP, along with business manager Kevin McCullough and lawyer Willie Ryan.
