Conduction has secured $265,000 in pre-seed funding from the Richard King Mellon Foundation to modernize music education through digital technology. The ed-tech platform enables students to create and produce digital songs while meeting national education standards.

The funding will support three key areas:

  • Development of proprietary music software modules
  • Expansion of corporate partnerships
  • Growth across Pennsylvania and U.S. schools

The platform addresses critical gaps in music education, as millions of U.S. students lack access to music programs. For schools with existing programs, Conduction offers a cost-effective solution that aligns with modern students' interests in beat making, composition, songwriting, and digital music production.

Key Features:

  • Weekly class voting on student-created songs
  • Local musicians create music videos of selected songs
  • Integration of traditional music education with modern digital tools
  • Focus on student engagement and participation

The platform currently partners with dozens of schools and districts, with over 100 schools ready to implement the solution. Conduction also works with corporations to sponsor music education programs through cost subsidization.

"Today's students want to become producers, DJs, songwriters, and beatmakers," says Joe Maggiore, CEO and co-founder of Conduction. "We created Conduction to refocus music education on today's student values while still incorporating critical national music education standards."
