Daryl Hall Confirms Hall & Oates Split: 'That Ship Has Gone to the Bottom'
The legendary music duo Hall & Oates has officially reached its end, with Daryl Hall declaring they will never perform together again following their recent legal dispute.

The fallout began in late 2023 when John Oates attempted to sell his stake in their joint publishing company, Whole Oats Enterprises, to Primary Wave Music. Hall responded with a lawsuit, calling it "the ultimate partnership betrayal" and "a completely clandestine and bad faith move."
In a recent interview with The Times of London, Hall firmly stated, "That ship has gone to the bottom of the ocean," regarding any future collaborations with Oates. He also emphasized his dominant role in their success, claiming he wrote about 90% of their hits.
Oates defended his decision on Good Morning America, explaining, "People do it all the time... you look at all the artists who are selling their catalogs... it's pretty common." He added that the situation was "ruining my life" and that he wanted to give Hall the opportunity to "be his own man."
The duo, who sold over 60 million records and achieved 16 Top 10 singles, always maintained separate identities despite their success together, officially billing themselves as "Daryl Hall & John Oates" rather than "Hall & Oates."
Hall continues his musical journey, having recently released his sixth solo studio album, "D," in collaboration with Dave Stewart of Eurythmics. Throughout his career, he has worked with numerous acclaimed artists, including Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and David Bowie.
