Ed Sheeran has reached a settlement in the copyright infringement lawsuit over 'The Rest Of Our Life,' a song he co-wrote for Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Australian songwriters Sean Carey and Beau Golden had claimed the song copied their work 'When I Found You,' which they wrote for artist Jasmine Rae.

The songwriters alleged that Sheeran's song contained "verbatim, note-for-note copying of original elements" from their composition. The case was represented by Richard Busch, known for winning the landmark 'Blurred Lines' copyright case against Pharrell Williams and Robin Thicke.

According to court documents filed in the US District Court in Manhattan, both parties have agreed "in principle" to settle the case. The lawsuit will be dismissed within 30 days once final issues are resolved.

This settlement resolves one of multiple copyright claims against Sheeran, who still faces two other ongoing lawsuits in the same court. Previous cases include:

  • A $20 million lawsuit regarding Matt Cardle's 'Amazing'
  • Multiple claims regarding similarities to Marvin Gaye's 'Let's Get It On'
  • A lawsuit from Ed Townsend's estate over 'Let's Get It On'

The specific terms of the settlement between Sheeran and the Australian songwriters have not been disclosed.
