Fans Sue Madonna and Live Nation Over Late Start Times, Lip-Synching in Class-Action Lawsuit
A new class action lawsuit has been filed against Madonna and Live Nation over alleged late concert starts and lip-synching during her Celebration Tour performances in Washington, D.C.
The lawsuit, filed in April 2024, claims that while doors opened at 7:30 PM and shows were scheduled to begin at 8:30 PM, Madonna didn't take the stage until approximately 10:30 PM during her December 18th and 19th performances.

Key complaints in the lawsuit include:
- Shows starting approximately 2 hours late
- Uncomfortable venue temperatures
- Alleged lip-synching during performances
- Limited transportation options due to late end times
- Increased transportation costs for attendees
One plaintiff reportedly paid $992.76 for two tickets. The lawsuit alleges breach of contract, false advertising, intentional and negligent misrepresentation, and unfair trade practices.
The plaintiffs include a licensed clinical psychologist, an executive assistant at a major retail chain, and a schoolteacher. One plaintiff specifically purchased tickets through StubHub, notably avoiding Ticketmaster's arbitration clause.
Live Nation has already moved to dismiss a similar lawsuit filed in New York federal court earlier this year, citing Ticketmaster's arbitration clause as part of their defense.
