Judge Reduces T.I. and Tiny's OMG Girlz Lawsuit Award from $71.4M to $17M
A federal judge is considering reducing T.I. and Tiny Harris' lawsuit payout against MGA Entertainment from $71.4 million to $17 million over allegations regarding the LOL Surprise! OMG doll line.

Federal judge ruling on OMG lawsuit
Judge James Selna indicated there was insufficient evidence to prove the toymaker acted in bad faith, which would justify the original punitive damages. The potential 75% reduction would primarily affect the $53.6 million in punitive damages, while maintaining the $17.8 million in real damages.
The lawsuit centered on claims that MGA Entertainment's LOL Surprise! OMG dolls copied the likeness of T.I. and Tiny's girl group, OMG Girlz. The initial ruling found seven dolls in violation of the group's intellectual property, with testimony from group members including the couple's daughter, Star.
T.I. stated to Rolling Stone that MGA Entertainment "came and ripped us off" while expecting them not to defend themselves. The company denied both copyright infringement allegations and claims of bullying during the legal proceedings, labeling the couple as "extortionists."
The judge has indicated he needs time to review the case thoroughly before making a final decision, stating, "There's a lot to contemplate. I want to put this down for a couple days, and I want to come back to it fresh from the top."
