Written by John Paul Young and produced by John Carter, the rock-influenced track features a guitar solo alongside organ and drums. Originally intended for the 1984 Private Dancer album, it was ultimately left off the final release.
Private Dancer marked a pivotal moment in Turner's career, selling 10 million copies and earning three Grammy awards. The album's standout hit, "What's Love Got to Do With It," reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
Turner, who passed away on May 24, 2023, at age 83, emerged as a solo artist after leaving her abusive marriage to Ike Turner. Her 1986 autobiography, I, Tina, chronicled her experiences and established her as an inspiration for abuse survivors.
The 40th anniversary edition of Private Dancer will feature "Hot For You Baby" alongside other previously unreleased tracks, adding to Turner's legendary musical legacy that spans over five decades of rock and roll history.
