Mariah Carey's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nomination Comes After Her Lawyer's Induction
Mariah Carey's first Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination comes with an ironic twist - her attorney, Allen Grubman, was inducted before she became eligible.

Grubman, who helped establish the Rock Hall in 1983, received the Ahmet Ertegun Award in 2022 for representing legendary artists including Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, and Elton John. Meanwhile, Carey has been eligible since 2015, marking 25 years since her debut album.
"Everybody was calling me, going, 'I think you're getting in!' and so I was excited about it. But then it didn't happen. My lawyer got into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame before me," Carey told The Los Angeles Times.
The attorney's induction sparked controversy, with former Rock Hall co-founder Jann Wenner criticizing it as catering to "a music-business power broker."
Currently, Carey is preparing for her 2024 Christmas Tour and upcoming Las Vegas residency. She's also working on new music, with reportedly "nine or ten" songs in development, and has partnered with Amazon Music for Christmas merchandise.
