Megan Thee Stallion's Defamation Lawsuit Faces Major Dismissal Challenge: 'Statements Not Defamatory,' Claims Defense
Megan Thee Stallion's defamation lawsuit against social media commentator Milagro Cooper faces a significant challenge as Cooper files an aggressive dismissal motion. The case stems from alleged defamatory statements and harassment related to the Tory Lanez shooting incident.

Key Points of Cooper's Dismissal Motion:
- Claims statements are "substantially true" and lack "actual malice"
- Argues comments are opinions and rhetorical hyperbole
- States statements aren't defamatory to a reasonable person
- Disputes allegations about deepfake video promotion
The lawsuit, filed in October, accuses Cooper (known as Milagro Gramz) of being a "social media grifter" who conducted a "years-long campaign of harassment" against Megan Thee Stallion on behalf of Tory Lanez. Megan's amended complaint, spanning 40 pages, emphasizes an alleged connection between Cooper and Lanez, claiming they have a "vendetta" against her.
Cooper's legal team, represented by Unite the People, argues that Megan Thee Stallion is "using the legal system in an attempt to cancel those opinions she disagrees with" rather than directly addressing the claims. They specifically contest the deepfake video allegations, stating Cooper actually warned the public about the video being fake and suggested Megan should sue its creators.

The dismissal motion particularly focuses on the context of statements, arguing that when viewed objectively rather than in a "hypersensitive safe-space echo chamber," the allegations of defamation are overreaching. Cooper's team also points to alleged inconsistencies in Megan's statements to police regarding the Lanez incident.
As of now, Megan Thee Stallion has not publicly responded to the dismissal motion. The case continues under docket number 1:24-cv-24228.
