
Songwriter Fund Reopens Applications After Distributing $400K in Relief Payments
The Songwriter Fund, backed by SONA and Sony Music Publishing, is reopening applications after successfully distributing $400,000 in one-time relief payments to songwriters. The third round of financial support will begin accepting applications on Wednesday, April 28th.

Eligibility Requirements:
- U.S.-based songwriters
- 18 years or older
- Minimum 2 years of professional songwriting experience
- At least 2 years of PRO (Performing Rights Organization) membership
The fund provides $1,000 grants strictly for critical life expenses, including:
- Food
- Housing
- Medical bills

- PRO membership proof
- Songwriting credits documentation

The Songwriter Fund is one of only two major initiatives supporting songwriters during the COVID-19 pandemic, alongside PRS for Music's Emergency Relief Fund. Similar initiatives include Van Morrison's "Lockdown Financial Hardship Fund," which launched in November and completed its second round of disbursements in February 2021.
