Radio Stations to Pay 10.4% More in SESAC Licensing Fees After Rate Settlement
SESAC and RMLC have officially settled their rate dispute for 2023-2026 through arbitration, resulting in a 10.4% increase in licensing fees for radio stations.

Key Details of the Settlement:
- New rate: 0.2824% of each station's net revenue (up from 0.2557%)
- Applies to approximately 10,000 U.S. terrestrial radio stations
- Non-music stations will continue receiving substantial discounts
- Long-form terms are still being finalized
SESAC President Scott Jungmichel praised the decision, noting that:
- The panel rejected RMLC's attempts to lower rates
- SESAC avoided being tied to regulated rates like ASCAP and BMI
- The revenue base for fee calculations has significantly expanded
The resolution follows similar recent disputes between RMLC and other performance rights organizations, including a settlement with Global Music Rights (GMR). This marks another chapter in the ongoing negotiations between radio stations and music licensing organizations over fair compensation for artists and rights holders.
