
Save The Music Goes Independent, Launches $10M Endowment for Music Education
Save the Music, formerly associated with Paramount Global, has announced its transition to an independent non-profit organization while launching a $10 million endowment fund to support music education.

The organization has already raised nearly $4 million for the endowment fund, including a six-figure donation from Paramount. This transition completes a process that began in 2019 when the organization removed VH1 from its name to reduce dependence on a single funding source.
Key achievements and funding:
- Invested over $75 million in 2,800+ school music programs
- Doubled school reach since 2019, funding 600+ new programs
- 95% of 2024 budget comes from non-Paramount sources
- Received $2 million grant from MacKenzie Scott
- Support from major record labels, Live Nation, AEG Presents, Amazon, TikTok, and Meta
The organization currently operates in major U.S. cities including New York, Newark, Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles, New Orleans, Nashville, and Columbus, providing instruments, technology, teacher training, and funding for community-based music programs.
To celebrate this transition, Save the Music has launched an exclusive giveaway campaign on the Propeller platform, featuring auction prizes from artists like Sabrina Carpenter, The War and Treaty, Denzel Curry, GHOST, Common x Pete Rock, Patti LaBelle, and Blake Shelton. The auction proceeds will fund new music programs nationwide.
"Going independent is a huge step forward for us," says Executive Director Henry Donahue. "In every school I visit, the music room is a special place where students are creative, thoughtful, and optimistic in a way that should give us all hope for the future."
