Following this success, SiriusXM has commissioned Maxar Space Systems to build three additional satellites: SXM-10, SXM-11, and SXM-12. The SXM-10 is scheduled for launch later this year.

Key Features of SXM-9:

  • Built on Maxar 1300 platform
  • Height: 27 feet
  • Length: 100+ feet (with solar arrays deployed)
  • Weight: 6,400 kg at launch
  • Equipped with L3Harris S-band reflector antenna
  • Reaches approximately 167 million SiriusXM-equipped vehicles

The satellite provides continuous audio entertainment and information services to consumers across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. It represents the tenth high-powered, digital audio radio satellite built by Maxar Space Systems for SiriusXM.

Bridget Neville, SiriusXM's Senior Vice President & GM of Signal Distribution Engineering, emphasized that these satellite launches will strengthen their fleet's health for decades and enable continued innovation. Chris Johnson, CEO of Maxar Space Systems, highlighted the Maxar 1300 platform's reliability and mission adaptability as key factors in meeting SiriusXM's requirements.
