Snapchat Gains Momentum as TikTok's Uncertainty Drives Advertisers and Creators Away
Snapchat is experiencing significant growth amid TikTok's uncertain future, according to Snap CEO Evan Spiegel. The company reported strong financial results for Q4 2024, with revenue reaching $1.55 billion and daily active users growing to 453 million, marking a 9% increase year-over-year.

The company's transformation from a $248 million loss to a $9 million profit has been partially attributed to TikTok's challenges. Advertising revenue, which comprises $1.41 billion of total revenue, saw a 10% increase year-over-year as advertisers seek to diversify their spending.
Spiegel noted that both advertisers and creators are actively pursuing platform diversification strategies. The Snap Star program has driven a 40% increase in creator posting activity on the platform during Q4.
Looking ahead, Snap projects reaching 459 million daily active users in Q1 2025, with expected revenue between $1.32 and $1.36 billion. The company plans increased investments in Q1, including:
- Enhanced marketing initiatives
- Additional hiring
- Development of a simplified Snapchat experience
- $5 million donation to Los wildfire relief efforts
Operating expenses are anticipated to rise 11-12% year-over-year due to these strategic investments. Despite lower-than-expected first-quarter adjusted earnings projections, the company maintains an optimistic outlook for continued growth and platform development.
