Sony Music Publishing Renews and Expands Global Admin Deal with TIPS Music India

Sony Music Publishing has renewed and expanded its exclusive global administration deal with TIPS Music, one of India's leading music companies. The multi-year agreement now includes YouTube rights worldwide (excluding India) for international publishing exploitation.

The deal covers TIPS Music's extensive catalog of over 32,000 tracks in 24 languages, featuring prominent Bollywood soundtracks and popular Indian music. TIPS Music plans to release 12-15 Bollywood/regional film albums annually, along with independent music under their Tips Originals brand.

This strategic partnership aims to boost Indian music's global presence, particularly as Bollywood soundtracks gain international popularity. The agreement encompasses:

  • Music administration
  • Synchronization rights
  • Enhanced promotion across global digital platforms
  • YouTube rights management (excluding India)

Guy Henderson, President International at Sony Music Publishing, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded relationship, noting TIPS' consistent growth over the years. Kumar Taurani, Managing Director of Tips Music Ltd., highlighted the partnership's success in expanding international music usage within their first year of collaboration.

The renewed agreement leverages Sony Music Publishing's global network and reporting systems, enabling TIPS to effectively monitor publishing revenues. According to Hari Nair, CEO of Tips Music Ltd., the addition of YouTube rights is expected to significantly boost their international publishing revenues.
