Spotify Reverses Car Thing Refund Policy Following Class Action Lawsuit
Spotify has reversed its stance on Car Thing refunds following a class action lawsuit, now offering refunds to original purchasers of the $90 device. The company plans to disable all Car Thing devices through a firmware update on December 9, 2024, effectively ending its three-year hardware experiment.
The change in refund policy comes after Car Thing owners filed a lawsuit, arguing they wouldn't have purchased the device had they known it would become unusable in less than a year. While Spotify discontinued production in July 2022, they had initially promised continued support for existing devices.
