Texas Court Orders Live Nation CEO to Testify in Astroworld Tragedy Case
Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino must submit to a deposition in the ongoing Astroworld tragedy litigation, following a decisive Texas Supreme Court ruling. The court rejected Live Nation's attempts to block the deposition, determining that Rapino had direct involvement in key festival decisions.

The victims' attorneys presented crucial evidence, including an email from Rapino on the night of the disaster, where he wrote, "If 5 died we would cancel," demonstrating his direct role in decision-making contrary to Live Nation's claims that he was a removed "apex" executive.
The case stems from the 2021 Astroworld festival tragedy during Travis Scott's performance, which resulted in 10 deaths and hundreds of injuries. While some lawsuits have been settled privately, others are proceeding toward jury trials, with plaintiffs seeking billions in damages from Live Nation, Scott, and other parties.
The timing of Rapino's deposition has not yet been announced.
