X Rolls Out Vertical Video Feed Globally as TikTok Faces Continued Disruption
X is rolling out its dedicated vertical video feed globally following its successful US launch. The feature, accessible through a new tab next to the Grok AI button in the X app, is currently available on iOS devices, with Android release dates pending.

The expansion reaches multiple regions including Australia, India, and European markets. This strategic move coincides with TikTok's ongoing availability issues in some markets, though TikTok recently received an extended deadline to negotiate US operations through an executive order.
Video content has become increasingly central to X's strategy. The platform previously launched a TV app for creator and organizational content, and introduced swipe-up functionality for short-form videos in 2022. The new vertical feed includes ad placement after several videos, creating additional revenue opportunities similar to Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok's models.
While TikTok's future remains uncertain in some markets, competitors like Instagram are actively pursuing content creators for their platforms. The trend of short-form video continues to dominate social media, with features popularized by TikTok being adopted across various platforms.
This expansion represents X's latest effort to capture market share in the growing short-form video space while monetizing user engagement through strategic ad placement.
