YouTube is partnering with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to develop AI deepfake detection and removal tools, giving talent more control over their digital likeness.

The collaboration will provide CAA talent with early access to technology that identifies and manages AI-generated content featuring their likeness. Initial testing will begin in early 2024 with CAA's roster of actors and professional athletes from the NBA and NFL.

Key features of the new tool include:

  • Detection of AI-generated content featuring talent's likeness
  • Streamlined process for submitting removal requests through privacy complaints
  • Enhanced controls for managing digital representations

Neal Mohan, YouTube's CEO, emphasizes that responsible AI development requires strong partnerships, while Bryan Lourd, CEO & Co-Chairman of CAA, highlights the importance of protecting artists' rights while enabling creative expression.

The partnership aims to:

  • Protect creators' rights and creative control
  • Develop responsible AI solutions
  • Gather feedback from high-profile talent to improve detection systems
  • Create industry standards for AI content management

This initiative represents YouTube's first step in a broader testing effort to address AI-generated content concerns and protect creator rights on the platform.
