Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. stated the ceremony will continue "in close coordination with local authorities to ensure public safety and responsible use of area resources." This year's show will have an additional focus on raising funds for wildfire relief efforts and honoring first responders.
The Recording Academy and MusiCares have already launched the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort with an initial $1 million donation, which has grown to over $2 million in emergency aid distributed to affected music professionals.
Currently, approximately 92,000 people remain under evacuation orders, with an additional 89,000 in areas under evacuation warnings. The death toll has reached 25 as of Monday morning.
Universal Music Group has cancelled all Grammy-related events, including their traditional artist showcase and afterparty. UMG will redirect these resources to support wildfire relief efforts. The company expressed gratitude to first responders and emergency personnel, stating "LA is home to so many of us. We are committed to helping and supporting the music community, our artists, our teams, and the people of Los Angeles get through this horrific episode."
