The lawsuit, filed in California's U.S. District Court, claims that talent manager Guy Oseary orchestrated a scheme with Yuga Labs executives to leverage his celebrity network for promoting Yuga's financial products. The 100-page filing names 37 co-defendants and alleges that MoonPay was used as a front to process secret payments from Yuga Labs to celebrities.
According to the lawsuit, MoonPay presented itself as a service helping wealthy individuals purchase NFTs, but actually served as a covert payment channel between Yuga Labs and celebrity promoters. This arrangement allegedly violated both state and federal laws by failing to disclose these financial relationships to investors.
Yuga Labs has denied all allegations, stating, "In our view, these claims are opportunistic and parasitic. We strongly believe they are without merit, and look forward to proving as much."
