Additional fundraising efforts include the upcoming FireAid benefit concert at the Kia Forum and Intuit Dome on January 30, plus special appeals during the MusiCares Person of the Year celebration honoring The Grateful Dead. The Grammy Awards has also modified its programming to support wildfire relief awareness.
Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. reports that thousands of music industry professionals have requested assistance. To qualify for aid, applicants must either:
- Have worked in the music industry for at least 3 years, or
- Have 6 commercially released recordings
Eligible recipients receive:
- $1,500 in financial assistance
- $500 grocery card
Importantly, recipients do not need to be Recording Academy members to receive support. Mason Jr. emphasizes that the need for assistance will continue for years to come, as many industry professionals have lost homes, studios, instruments, and their ability to earn a living.
"All of that money is committed and spoken for—and we're going to need a lot more," states Mason Jr., highlighting the ongoing nature of this relief effort and the music community's continued need for support.
