Offset, a prominent rapper signed to Motown Records, has announced an upcoming performance in Moscow, Russia scheduled for April 18, despite Universal Music Group's (UMG) ongoing boycott of the country.

The announcement comes as particularly noteworthy since UMG, Motown Records' parent company, suspended all Russian operations following the Ukraine invasion. Other major music industry players, including Sony Music, Warner Music, and Live Nation, also withdrew from the Russian market at that time.

This isn't unprecedented in recent months - fellow rapper DaBaby, signed to UMG's Interscope Records, recently performed in Moscow on February 28, where he participated in a rendition of the Russian folk song "Valenki" with local musicians.

The Moscow performance, advertised on a dedicated website describing Offset as "a showman who turns a concert into a theatrical performance," offers tickets ranging from 5,000 to 45,000 Russian rubles (approximately $55-$490 USD). Notably, the show isn't listed on Motown Records' official website.

While the performance could prove financially lucrative, it comes with significant risks. Performers must be particularly cautious about local laws - as evidenced by WNBA star Brittney Griner's 10-month detention for possessing cannabis oil cartridges, which are illegal in Russia.

Representatives for Offset, Universal, and Independent Artist Group have not commented on the announcement. This news comes amid other developments in Offset's career, including his recent single "Ten" released through Capitol Records on February 14, and his ongoing divorce proceedings with Cardi B, where he's seeking joint custody of their three children.
