Recording Academy, MusiCares Launch $1M Relief Fund for LA Wildfire Victims

The Recording Academy and MusiCares have pledged $1 million to launch the Los Angeles Fire Relief Effort, supporting music professionals affected by the ongoing wildfires in the LA area.

The devastating fires have destroyed over 2,000 homes in the Palisades and Eaton communities, severely impacting hundreds of musicians and industry professionals who lost both homes and professional equipment.

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy and MusiCares, emphasized the music community's commitment to supporting affected individuals through this crisis. Laura Segura, MusiCares executive director, highlighted their dedication to providing both immediate and long-term assistance to displaced music professionals.

Eligibility for financial aid includes:

  • Industry professionals with 5+ years of documented employment
  • Those with six commercially released recordings or videos/singles
  • Roles including producers, live crew, tour bus drivers, managers, agents, A&R, makeup artists, costume designers, and music video technicians
