The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced 14 nominees for its 2025 class, featuring a diverse mix of musical legends and innovators.

• Joe Cocker
• Billy Idol
• Joy Division/New Order
• Maná
• Soundgarden
• The Black Crowes
• Oasis
• OutKast
• Mariah Carey
• Phish
• The White Stripes

Eight artists are first-time nominees: Bad Company, The Black Crowes, Chubby Checker, Joe Cocker, Billy Idol, Maná, OutKast, and Phish. Notable mentions include Chubby Checker, whose "The Twist" helped shape early rock and roll, and Mariah Carey, who boasts 19 Billboard Hot 100 #1 hits.

The selection process involves over 1,200 voters, including artists, industry professionals, and historians. To be eligible, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years ago. Selection criteria focus on musical impact, career longevity, and innovation.

The inductees will be announced in late April, with the ceremony taking place in Los Angeles this fall. Additional inductees will be named in three committee categories: musical influence, musical excellence, and the Ahmet Ertegun Non-Performer Award.

For reference, the 2024 class included Mary J. Blige, Cher, Foreigner, A Tribe Called Quest, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, Dave Matthews Band, and Peter Frampton.
